Pompeii

"A journey through time between history and legend"

Pompeii is one of the most famous and fascinating archaeological sites in the world, a unique place where time seems to have stood still. Located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii recounts with extraordinary precision the daily life of ancient Rome, frozen in time by the eruption of 79 AD that buried it under ash and lapilli.

Visiting Pompeii means walking along original Roman streets, entering houses, shops, temples, and theaters, and observing up close how the ancient Pompeians lived, worked, and entertained.

"A universal heritage"

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii is one of the most powerful symbols of the fragility and grandeur of human civilization. A place that not only recounts the past, but also invites reflection on the present.

"Why visit Pompeii"

Pompeii is more than just an archaeological site: it’s a truly intact Roman city, an open-air museum that allows you to experience history in a direct and exciting way. Every corner tells a story, every fresco preserves surprisingly vivid colors and details, making the visit an intense and unforgettable experience.

It’s an unmissable destination for history, culture, and archaeology enthusiasts, but also for anyone who wants to discover one of Italy’s most iconic landmarks.

History of Pompeii

Probably founded in the 7th century BC, Pompeii prospered thanks to its strategic location and fertile volcanic soil. It became a wealthy and vibrant city, equipped with advanced infrastructure such as aqueducts, baths, paved streets, and sewer systems.

On August 24, 79 AD, the eruption of Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii in a matter of hours. Paradoxically, that very tragedy allowed its exceptional preservation, returning to the world an unparalleled testimony to Roman civilization.

"What to see in Pompeii"

The political, religious, and commercial heart of the city, the Forum was the hub of public life. Surrounded by temples and institutional buildings, it offers a breathtaking view of Mount Vesuvius.

One of the most touching aspects of the visit: the plaster casts show the last postures of the inhabitants caught in the eruption, offering a powerful and moving image of the tragedy.

“Where luxury meets Italian authenticity.”
